2.1 Information You Give Us

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and password. When you create a profile we collect your professional type, location, bio, skills, tags, Instagram handle, and any profile photo you upload. When you make a payment we collect payment information through our secure payment processor Stripe. We do not store your full credit card details on our servers. When you submit music snippets, full tracks, event flyers, or beats we collect the files you upload and their associated metadata including track title, genre, mood tags, and what opportunities you are seeking. When you contact us we collect the content of your messages.

2.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you use Lakou Music we automatically collect your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and how you found us. We use this information to improve the platform and detect abuse. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to remember your preferences including your language choice between English and Haitian Kreyòl and your login session.

2.3 Challenge and Competition Data

We collect data about your participation in the Weekly Challenge including your daily rank position, consecutive days in top 3, Survival Score history, snippet play counts, vote counts received, milestone achievements, and prize delivery records. This data is used to operate the automated challenge system, deliver prizes automatically, maintain the Hall of Fame, and generate platform analytics. Anonymized aggregate challenge data may be used to improve the platform and is displayed publicly on leaderboards and the Hall of Fame page at lakoumusic.com/champions.

2.4 Voting and Activity Data

We collect data about your voting activity in the Weekly Challenge including which artists you voted for, how many votes you cast each week, extra votes purchased, and your vote wallet balance. We collect play count data when you listen to snippets or tracks on the platform.

We use your information to operate and improve the Lakou Music platform. We use your email to send you account notifications, weekly challenge updates, vote reset emails every Monday, milestone achievement notifications, streak warning emails, snippet expiry warnings, prize delivery confirmations, and our newsletter if you subscribed. We use your payment information to process membership fees, event posting fees, vote purchases, and beat purchases through Stripe. We use your activity data to calculate snippet Survival Scores, leaderboard rankings, streak counters, and platform analytics. We use your streak and performance data to automatically deliver prizes when milestone thresholds are reached at day 14 and day 30. We use your profile photo and artist name to automatically generate shareable achievement images when you reach challenge milestones. We use your performance data to populate the public Hall of Fame page at lakoumusic.com/champions. We use your IP address to enforce voting integrity rules and detect abuse. We never sell your personal information to third parties. We never share your personal information with advertisers.

4.1 Public Profile Information

When you create a profile on Lakou Music your name, professional type, location, bio, skills, and profile photo are visible to other users. Your contact email is only visible to Pro and Industry members if you have enabled contact visibility.

4.2 Hall of Fame and Leaderboards

When you achieve a milestone in the Weekly Challenge your name, photo, genre, city, and performance stats are automatically displayed on the public Hall of Fame page at lakoumusic.com/champions and on public leaderboards. This page is visible to everyone without login. If you wish to be removed from the Hall of Fame contact contact@lakoumusic.com.

4.3 Automated Prize Delivery

When you achieve a milestone in the Weekly Challenge the platform automatically upgrades your account and activates features without human review. This automated process involves internal platform systems accessing your account data to activate the correct prizes. No personal data is shared with third parties as part of the automated prize delivery process.

4.4 Service Providers

We share information with trusted third party service providers who help us operate the platform. These include Supabase for database and file storage, Stripe for payment processing, and email service providers for transactional and newsletter emails. These providers are contractually required to protect your information and may only use it to provide services to Lakou Music.

4.5 Distribution Partners

If you click a distribution partner link on Lakou Music you will be directed to a third party platform. We may share basic referral information with distribution partners to track affiliate commissions. We do not share your full profile or payment information with distribution partners.

4.6 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority. We may also disclose information to protect the rights, property, or safety of Lakou Music, our members, or the public.

Music files, snippets, event flyers, and beats you upload are stored securely on our servers through Supabase. You retain full ownership of all content you upload. We stream your content to other users of the platform for promotional purposes as described in our Terms of Service. We do not sell, license, or distribute your content to third parties. You can request deletion of your content at any time through your dashboard or by contacting contact@lakoumusic.com. Snippets that achieve Full Champion status are retained permanently on the platform unless the artist specifically requests removal.

We use cookies to keep you logged in between sessions, remember your language preference between English and Haitian Kreyòl, remember your view preferences on the Network page, and analyze how the platform is used. You can disable cookies in your browser settings but some features of Lakou Music may not function correctly without them.

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we delete your personal information within 30 days. Weekly Challenge performance data including daily rankings, streak history, play counts, and vote counts are retained indefinitely for leaderboard and Hall of Fame purposes. This data is anonymized upon account deletion — your name and photo are removed but aggregate performance statistics may be retained. Payment records and vote purchase records are retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations.

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you. You have the right to correct inaccurate information in your profile at any time through your dashboard. You have the right to request deletion of your account and personal information. You have the right to opt out of our newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. You have the right to request a copy of your data. You have the right to request removal of your entry from the public Hall of Fame page. You have the right to request deletion of your uploaded snippets, tracks, and event flyers at any time through your dashboard or by contacting contact@lakoumusic.com. You have the right to request a breakdown of your Weekly Challenge performance data. To exercise any of these rights contact us at contact@lakoumusic.com.

Lakou Music is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 16 we will delete it immediately. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account contact us at contact@lakoumusic.com.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. All data is encrypted in transit using SSL. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Payment information is processed by Stripe and never stored on our servers. However no internet transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Lakou Music may contain links to third party websites including distribution partners, external ticketing platforms, YouTube, SoundCloud, and social media platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third party sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered members of significant changes via email. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
